Biography :

David Chapman is a masters student studying under Dr. Halem at UMBC. He enrolled at UMBC's computer science program at the age of 12, and graduated at age 17. He has a strong background in C programming and computer graphics theory. Now he works with Dr. Halem to provide satellite radiance services. He was instrumental for developing the SOAR website, which provides on-demand sub setting of AIRS and AMSU radiance data. He is now working to develop software on the BlueGrit supercomputer to create a 1 year gridded (reprojected based on Lat-Lon) EOS-AIRS satellite radiance dataset a 0.5 x 1 degree (360x360 pixels) resolution. Which will provide better resolution SOAR services. David is also a skilled jazz saxophonist, and is currently playing with UMBC's jazz band. He also has supported UMBC through chess by playing with one of UMBC chess teams in the Pan-American intercollegiate chess tournament.
